Reformers Unanimous Addictions Program

About RU

Reformers Unanimous is a faith-based addiction program designed to direct the addicted back to God, with the local church acting as a support group. Reformers Unanimous not only serves the addicted, but families of the addicted. Sometimes helping yourself and making changes in your life can have the greatest impact on your loved ones. Not only do we at times enable our family members, but we also tend to become caught up in an ungodly way of life ourselves.

God is doing a work here in the Fairbanks Chapter of Reformers Unanimous. Students are enjoying freedom from their addictions through Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free". This can happen to anyone, no matter how severe their addiction. The Bible tells us so. Try it for yourself. Visit our Reformer's Unanimous meeting this week.

How We Began

Reformers Unanimous began in Illinois in 1996 with a small group of four people who became the foundation that we would build on: addictions to food, crack cocaine, alcohol, and pornography. Four different people, four crippling addictions, yet only one need: Jesus Christ! We began to grow and the Truth set us free.

In year two, we added counsel leaders and group counsel time to support the students during the week. Reformers grew. In year three we added our beginning curriculum: a program guide of the weekly lessons, tapes to follow along, and a handbook that encourages students to read the Bible, memorize the Bible, study the Bible (essays), and hear the Bible (church attendance). These are the building blocks that Christ uses to reform a life unanimously.

Our attendance began to explode. Year four we added our transitional housing and other camps throughout the states, and even in the Philippines. Year five we completed a line of workbooks to go with the handbook, and began an award system to encourage participation (1 Corinthians 3:12,14.)

Reformers Unanimous began in Fairbanks in April of 2002 and meets every Friday night.

RU Programs

Teens-N-Transition Program

For youth dealing with addictions. We believe it is wise to keep the young participants separate from the adults so that they are not exposed to details of matters adults may be dealing with.

Children’s Program

We offer the Good News Club for children ages 6-12. The children learn Bible stories and verses, play games, and do lots of other fun stuff. Your kids are guaranteed to love it and will urge you to keep attending.

Care for Young Children

We have excellent nursery facilities and experienced workers to care for your young children.

Prison Ministry

Satellite Meetings are held weekly at Fairbanks Correctional Center for both men and women. We also have a Satellite Meeting at North Star Center.

The 10 Principles of Prosperity

1. If God's against it, so are we.

Galatians 5:19-24

2. Every sin has its origin in the heart.

Jeremiah 17:9, Proverbs 4:23, Romans 13:14

3. It is easier to keep the heart clean than it is to clean it after it has been defiled.

Proverbs 22:3, Proverbs 6:27-28

4. It is not possible to fight a fleshly appetite by indulging in it.

Ecclesiastes 5:10, James 1:14-15

5. Small compromises lead to great disasters (or little sins lead to big sins.)

Luke 16:10, Matthew 6:24, Romans 6:16

6. Those who do not love the Lord will not help you serve the Lord.

John 5:18-20, Proverbs 25:15-16

7. Our sinful habits do hurt those who follow us.

Romans 14:7, 1 Corinthians 10:23, 24

8. It is not possible to fight a fleshly temptation with a fleshly weapon.

II Corinthians 10:3-5, I John 4:4

9. We lose our freedom of choice when we choose our actions. The consequences of our choices are inevitable, incalculable, and up to God.

Proverbs 5:22, Proverbs 20:17, Proverbs 9:17-18

10. God balances guilt with blame. When we accept the blame for actions, God, by our repentance and confession, will eliminate the guilt.

I John 1:9

God's Simple Plan of Salvation

The greatest thing you can accomplish in your life is accepting God's Word (the Bible) as the truth. God outlines his plan for salvation - the way to eternal life. You can stop living in today and begin a life-long journey of growth in Christ. If you're ready for a change, then read the plan of salvation below (taken right out of the Bible).

1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

2. The payment for your sin is death.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

3. The payment for your sins was paid in full.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

4. Believe in Christ's death, burial, and resurrection and trust Him to save you from sin's penalty.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name;

5. Call upon Him (in prayer) and God will answer.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
